Patty Culver was raised in Southlake, Texas and began competing at the age of 8. She was a strong, long term competitor in the American Association of Sheriff Posse and Riding Club Association in Texas which had over 30 districts and Finals annually. The Playday events consisted of 8 different events known locally as Gymkhana. Patty would like to bring this family oriented event to Fremont County - and we at Los Pinos Equestrian Center agree !
Patty is a certified Level One Parelli Natural Horsemanship and has attended clinics and learned from Barrel Racing mentors Martha Josey (Women`s Professional Rodeo Assoc World Title, Cowgirl Hall of Fame) and Marlene Eddleman McRae (Cowgirl Hall of Fame, WPRA World Title).
Patty has experience with Barrels, Poles, and Team Penning. She also is experienced in breeding, training, and colts competing in Barrel Futurities. She was the rider for another horse owner in the 2004 Old Fort Days Barrel Futurity, Fort Smith, AR which is the nation’s richest barrel futurity.
She believes you can take a horse trained for one sport and if it does not work out, you can take their skills and produce a winner. Here is proof: Patty Qualified for the NBHA World Finals, finished 12th in the SCBRA year end awards, Old Fort Days Barrel Futurity, Ft. Smith, AR. Open category finalist and joined WPRA all in 2004, on a 10 year old broodmare she purchased for $1200. Her 6 year old Reining Working Cowhorse is standing 10th in the Novice Barrel Horse category with the Southern Colorado Barrel Racing Assoc (SCBRA) for 2006. Patty believes that you don`t have to buy an expensive horse to win, you just have to have the desire to practice, listen to anyone willing to give you input, set short term goals, and never give up on your dreams. Slow and right is better than fast and wrong.
