Welcome to Los Pinos Equestrian Center!
Los Pinos Equestrian Center is owned by Scott & Summer Skinner.
Scott and Summer Skinner have over 50 years of combined equestrian experience, and are very much looking forward to putting it to use as part of the new ownership at LPEC.
Scott has been training horses since he was a teenager in Texas. Originally, his skills were derived from experience with "tried and true" cowboys, but over the years his methods have evolved with his increase of horsemanship and horse knowledge. An apprenticeship with Bobby Ingersoll ( a man who legitimately carries the title " World's Greatest Horseman", and Western riding/training aficionado) allowed Scott to realize that new methods of "asking" a horse to learn something instead of forcing it or scaring it into submission are necessary to ensure a trusting and trustworthy riding partner. Time spent working alongside Chris Brown ( NCHA Judge, and one of Australia's best horsemen) gave Scott the chance to obtain the skills and motivation needed to compete at the highest level of the cutting industry. Scott's current lifetime earnings in equestrian competitions sit at just over $200,000. As a trainer, Scott utilizes both of those experiences in order to produce high quality training results for both horse and rider. You can learn more about Scott's unique training style on our website.
Scott's wife, Summer grew up in the most western state of Hawaii. As a child, time was spent riding bareback on the beach, or helping to gather cattle at Gunstock Ranch. She also enjoyed showing Quarter Horses in Western Pleasure, Equitation, Halter and Showmanship. When her family took over management of one of Hawaii's largest equine facilities, becoming fully involved in that undertaking was a natural move. She enjoys working closely with boarding clients to create a warm, friendly environment that not only appeals to the accomplished horseman, but also welcomes those new to the lifestyle. Facilitating equine-based events is not only one of Summer's skills, but also a passion. She cut her teeth on events in Hawaii, worked professionally as the event coordinator for The Arizona Diamondbacks, and has been fortunate to enjoy success putting on great events in the equine industry with her husband.
Scott and Summer have a seven year old daughter, Dakota, who is a native Texan like her dad.
The entire Skinner family is thrilled to be part of the community here in Florence. They look forward to offering fun, educational and affordable events for riders of all disciplines and all abilities at Los Piños Equestrian Center for many years to come. If you are in the "neigh"borhood, please stop in to say "Howdy!"
