Brandie Smith

Brandie Smith is now available to train your horse at Los Piños!

Brandie has been riding since she was 8 years old.  Her father worked at a Colorado mountain ranch and Brandie started working in exchange for riding lessons and became hooked on horses.  She was showing by age 11 and continued lessons and showing with the instructor/trainer for 9 years  - working hard to continue to improve her skills.

After the 3rd year of lessons, the instructor started teaching Brandie how to train horses and ready horses for pack trips and deal with all kinds of obstacles and surprises of nature.  While honing her riding and showing skills Brandie went to the Denver Stock Show multiple times, added English riding to her skillset along with spending many hours in the saddle guiding trail rides.

Brandie also enjoys sharing her knowledge and has given many lessons along the way.  Recently she focused on giving lessons to special needs kids and ran her own program to provide these services.  While Brandie will also be available for lessons, she has returned her focus to her first love - training horses.  She has been training for 13 years. Brandie's skills with both human and equine certainly benefit her clients as she is able to train your horse plus help you continue on and get the most out of her training time.

Brandie does encourage the owner to be involved with the training process as much as possible.  Colt starting should take a minimum of two months in order to develop a horse with no holes that the owner is able to enjoy in whatever their chosen activity.

Brandie's training focus is on Western Pleasure, Trail Riding including Packing and Western show prep for both the horse and the rider.  She can also work with horses that need problem solving and training to work with special needs riders.

Training fees:  $650/month which includes full care board.  Special training requests and work with 4H horses can be quoted on a per case basis and can be negotiated to develop a training plan and payment that works for you and your horse.  Price breaks for multiple months.

Brandie can be contacted at 719-315-2794 or sbrandie97@yahoo.com.
